In our last class, we worked on envisioning and designing A Perfect Day. You have worked on identifying how your days work (awareness) and held the vision of the ideal. Small changes have begun to happen, but acceptance is setting in. You aren’t living the life you know you want.
Now, in celebration of independence and self-determination, we study and implement tools for simplifying the overwhelm and combating decision fatigue.
HSPs report that as they are deep processing, strongly feeling, and keenly noticing people, decisions either exhaust them or lead them down the rabbit hole of perfectionism.
The research shows that there are two strategies in many or most species, and certainly this is true for humans. Some folks “Go for it without a worry. If they get it wrong they can always do it again.” That’s not you! Highly sensitive people have the other strategy:
“Do it once and do it right.” If you only get one try, you are likely to really think it through and be very careful and responsive to your environment. This might lead you to become a perfectionist. It’s more common than you think.
This class is about strategies that work. We can’t change our brains and you should not want to. You have a beautifully thoughtful and reactive brain. It leads you to wisdom and empathy, but…
You might be tired of all the thinking and deciding. Sometimes it feels like you can’t catch a break and the perfect day or perfect week feels too overwhelming.
From our last class of visioning and setting intentions, now we turn to nuts and bolts. Alane shared some of her best tools for banishing decision fatigue and perfectionism. Hopefully all of you will comment your hacks and tools as well.
